CRISTIANO TOMEI CHEF
Cristiano Tomei is a rock star to us! He will be in charge of the artistic direction of the food, offering a gastronomic experience that will be truly unique and unforgettable. Throughout the entire festival, our restaurant La Taverna dello Scoiattolo will be transformed into LO SCOIATTOLO NELL’IMBUTO, thanks to the incredible team from L’Imbuto.
At the end of the 1990s, Cristiano Tomei booked a one-way ticket on a journey through the world of taste, flavor, and the stories behind food and the act of eating. He is self-taught: A graduate of the Nautical Institute, he trained by helping out at family lunches and traveling with his surfer friends—only to leave them in the waves to explore the markets, taverns, and gourmet restaurants of the Basque Country, Cuba, Peru, Madagascar, and India. He opened his first restaurant at the age of 27, right on the beach, later moving it to the center of Viareggio and finally to Lucca, where he earned his first Michelin star in 2014. He has a deep love for local ingredients: fish from the Tyrrhenian Sea; meat, dairy, fruit, and vegetables from the Garfagnana region; and the herbs, berries, sprouts, and wildflowers he collects daily in the pine forests and meadows he’s explored since childhood. On television—from La Prova del Cuoco to MasterChef Magazine—he’s been a judge on I Re della Griglia and Cuochi d’Italia, which he also hosted. Since 2019, he has served as Executive Chef at Hotel Bauer in Venice, and since 2021, at the restaurant Terraforte, located inside Castello del Terriccio in the heart of Tuscany.
Taverna dello scoiattolo
Glamorous, refined, exclusive, the Taverna dello Scoiattolo is a dream chalet nestled in the greenery at the top of Living Mountain, in a privileged area isolated from the other structures. The warmth of a lit fireplace on crisp winter days and the coolness of the shade of the surrounding chestnut groves on sunny summer afternoons make the Taverna the perfect location for our Retreats. At the Taverna dello Scoiattolo, you can listen to live musical performances, enjoy delicious vegetarian and vegan food prepared by our dedicated chefs, and share unique moments.
Locanda alla posta
Set in the lush greenery of the Living Mountain, Locanda Alla Posta proposes traditional Tuscan dishes that have been revisited by our skilled, creative chef. With a menu that focuses on the quality of the ingredients and local food & wine, the interior has been redesigned, bringing its elegant understatement to light. Two large terraces – one of which covered – with a view of the Apuan Alps.
